How to Cleanse Your Crystals (Without Overthinking It)
Crystals do a lot of energetic heavy lifting, so it’s helpful to cleanse them regularly—especially after a hard day, being around low energy, or if they simply feel a bit off.
Here are three simple ways to do it:
1. Salt Cleanse
Salt draws out unwanted energy (one of the most effective methods).
Place crystals in dry sea salt or salt water for a few hours or overnight, then discard the salt.
(See below for crystals that should never get wet.)
2. Smudging
A quick, gentle reset.
Pass your crystal through smoke (sage or palo santo) for 20–30 seconds, with a simple intention like “clear and reset.”
3. Earth Method
Bury in soil for 24 hours to a few days, then gently clean.
This offers a deeper, grounding cleanse.
Crystals to Keep Dry
Selenite, Celestite, Malachite, Pyrite, Halite, Gypsum, Hematite.
If in doubt, keep it dry—many crystals ending in “-ite” are water sensitive.
Recharge Afterwards
Sunlight brings bright, energising power.
Moonlight offers a softer, nurturing energy.
A few hours on a windowsill is perfect. Reiki or similar energy work can also recharge them beautifully.
Trust your intuition—if a crystal feels like it needs a reset, it probably does.
It also just occurred to me that salt baths, smudging, or time barefoot on the earth can be just as cleansing for us lovely Humans too 🩷
